Oyo Waste Summit 2.0: Tackling textile and fashion waste through circular fashion

September 18, 2025

EcoCube was front row at the Oyo Waste Summit 2.0 held on September 17 at the University of Ibadan, where environmental stakeholders, recyclers, upcyclers, and wastepreneurs gathered to discuss how to make good use of waste. With Nigeria generating over 2 million tons of textile waste per year, the summit emphasized reuse, recycle, and reduce strategies to minimize solid waste to landfill.

Highlights included expert talks and a vibrant Trashion Runway Show featuring wearable art from recycled waste, reminding us that while fast fashion is cheap to the wallet, it's costly to the planet—it was a call to always choose sustainable ways and support brands that practice circular fashion.
